How the test is performed:

  • All samples are received at one location.  Our shipping and receiving department handles each and every order wearing sterile gloves.  We prepare a login folder for each case with the following:
    • Customer Invoice
    • Evidence submission form or peace of mind order form
    • All related notes and requested mailing address
    • Serialized test result sheet
    • Serialized storage pouch
  • The login folder is then transferred to the laboratory.
    • The lab technician reviews all paperwork
    • Labels are printed and attached to the serialized microtube, PSA cartridge, microscope slide, and storage pouch
    • The test package is moved to the testing area of the laboratory
  • Test Preparation
  • Testing
    • Acid phosphatase reagent is placed into 4 of the five microtubes
    • 200 µl of solution is taken from the sample tube without reagent for the prostate specific antigen test
    • 100 µl of solution is taken from the sample tube without reagent for the saliva test.
    • 40 µl of solution is drawn from the sample tube without reagent for the microscopic inspection
    • 120 µl of sodium hydroxide is added to the four reagent microtubes and the acid phosphatase results are read
    • The prostate specific antigen and saliva test results are read from a cartridge within ten minutes
    • Sperm protein test is performed when required
    • Blood test is performed when required
    • The slide is mounted to a powerful phase microscope and is evaluated for the presence of sperm
    • All results are confirmed by a second technician
  • Reporting
    • The technician makes detailed notes on the item log sheet for each stage of the test and the type of reaction the test had to each of the three final stages
    • Laboratory calculating worksheets and statistic forms are generated for the file folder
    • A final report is immediately prepared
    • The report and login folder are provided to the quality control department for a separate administrative and technical review
    • The report is finalized with the lab technician’s signature.  Legal reports are notarized.
  • Results
    • The customer login sheet is reviewed for the requested method of receiving results
    • The technician or customer service completes one or all of the following based on the customer request:
      • Call customer with results and provides a detailed explanation of the test results
      • Email customer the test result report
      • Mail results to customer or designated third party of customer
      • Many customers prefer to only contact us and provide the unique test order number for their results
      • Folder with is filed in locked storage with customer data and documents generated by the laboratory
  • Tested Item Disposition
    • The tested articles and proof of test can be stored for 90 days if the test is negative and one year if the test is positive at no additional charge
    • The article can be returned with the results for an additional mailing charge (weight dependent).
    • The customer can request that the tested item be destroyed
  • Record Keeping
    • Detailed test outcome information is entered into our database.
    • Statistics are published to assist future customers.
    • A report original and the test datasheet are permanently maintained in the file storage area.
    • Important samples, especially unique results or potentially competitor challenged samples may be permanently held.
